Strategies and plans for sustainable development

A strategy is not intended to regulate every challenge in detail; the goal is rather to establish an overarching and binding introductory framework for national policy—in conjunction with a clear commitment to elaborate it by action plans in individual political fields at the respective level of responsibility. Austria has set an important step in this direction by adopting the Austrian Strategy for Sustainable Development in 2002 (see Federal Level).
