Economy and the environment

The goal of Austria’s sustainability policy in terms of the economy is to make Austria a successful, sustainable place to do business. At the centre of these efforts are environmentally sound economic growth, more jobs, more high-quality jobs, and an intact environment. In the future, sustainable behaviour should pay off for companies and consumers. It is crucial that the steering effects of taxation provide the correct incentives for careful energy and resource consumption and, at the same time, provide rewards for work. It is a matter of developing basic economic conditions to aid in the protection of the environment and securing of social justice.
