Remediating and securing contaminated sites

By passing the Act on the Remediation of Contaminated Sites which came into effect on 1 July 1989 (ALSAG, Federal Law Gazette 1989/299, as amended), Austria, as one of the first countries in Europe, took a firm and crucial step toward the targeted identification of suspected contamination sites and contaminated sites.

    The most important success in this field, apart from laying down the framework for the awarding of contracts for securing and remediating contaminated sites, was the creation of a financial basis for the funding of respective measures. > more about: Remediation & Securing
