Remediating and securing contaminated sites

By passing the Act on the Remediation of Contaminated Sites which came into effect on 1 July 1989 (ALSAG, Federal Law Gazette 1989/299, as amended), Austria, as one of the first countries in Europe, took a firm and crucial step toward the targeted identification of suspected contamination sites and contaminated sites.
