Socio-ecological interaction

The request for sustainable development must take account of man and the objective of establishing sustainability as a social process. We must concern ourselves with the perception, the experience, prevailing values, requirements and objectives as well as with the behaviour of man in everyday life. 
 

These aspects must be taken account of also in indicator systems. The Institute for Environmental Hygiene of the University of Vienna addressed them in its study “Aspekte der sozialen Dimension ökologischer Nachhaltigkeitsindikatoren” on the social dimension of ecological sustainability indicators.
